Hawaii (Day 10)...and Merry Christmas!!

Our last day in Hawaii was actually yesterday...and now we are on our way home after taking the red-eye flight Christmas Eve night :) At least we got a bit of sleep on the plane!! Here are some images from yesterday as we hung out at the beach, soaking up every last bit of sun that we could before heading home to all the cold snow! Now, you might recognize this guy :) Matt was walking along the beach and saw this guy doing some crazy flips on the sand. He started chatting...and found out that he met Frosty from this most recent Survivor tv season. Definitely a cool guy!

Apparantly, Santa comes by outrigger canoe (not sleigh) in Hawaii :) Mele Kalikimaka, which is Hawaiian for Merry Christmas!

Hawaii (Day 9)

Today we made a trip to the north shore on Oahu...some great waves and surfers there!! Sadly our trip is coming to an end...we've enjoyed the time to relax together and experience some warm weather in the middle of winter. But at the same time we are looking forward to heading home, back to our routines, our dog, friends, and some snow skiing :) See you all soon!!

Hawaii (Day 8)

Alright...today was a day at the beach...that is it...we flew into Honolulu and just hung out at the beach all day. It was amazing...We can't wait to be home to the snow :)

Hawaii (Day 7)

I'm sorry we don't have a lot of pictures to put up today, but today was a nice...slow...relaxing day that we were able to just enjoy doing absolutely nothing! We hung out by the pool...played some golf...and did nothing else...IT WAS GREAT! See you tomorrow!

Hawaii (Day 6)

Today was a very relaxing and beautiful day :) Spent the morning at the pool and then Hapuna Beach, before heading off to a luau! Matt and I had fun trying to capture the hulu dancers in (nearly) complete darkness, but they turned out reasonably well. We are looking forward to another relaxing day tomorrow!

The luau was actually pretty cool...we weren't expecting anything fantastic, but you could tell the dancers were all having a good time!

Hawaii (Day 5)

Today was another day filled with driving...but now we can say that we've been around the entire Big Island and seen just about all the major highlights! We started out driving to South Point, the most southern spot in the USA. From that point we took our 4-wheel drive rental off-roading...extreme off-roading :) With all the rain Hawaii had that past two weeks, it made our road choice very interesting, but it was fun. At the end, we were able to see a rare GREEN sand beach! Next, we went to a black sand beach with some sleepy sea turtles hanging around, then we made a quick loop around Kilauea, the volcano, before going to Matt's sister's basketball game (which they won). We are looking forward to some days of pool, sun, and beach!

Our jeep did well...brought us across 5 miles of nasty roads :)


Sadly the volcano isn't too active with flowing molten lava right now, but it was still neat to see the smoking craters and everything. The sulfur smell was horrible though and the landscape looked so unforgiving!

Hawaii (Day 4)

Wow, today was a blur...seriously, if we didn't have our cameras with us, I don't think I would remember half of the stuff that we did. We woke up early, drove the northern most coast towards Hilo, checking out amazing gardens...waterfalls...black sand beaches...and finally stopping at my sisters basketball game. We are having so much fun just being able to take pictures together, and continue to love photography more each day.

Hawaii (Day 3)

Today was filled with some whale watching, golfing, sight seeing, etc...beautiful weather :) It was amazing to see the humpback whales jumping and playing around in the distance...sadly just a bit too far out for our zoom lens to reach! But a great day!

Hawaii (Day 2)

Today was definitely a fun-filled day. There was so much stuff going on that it is hard to even think about posting everything that happened. Here a just a couple of highlights from the beaches to the sunset!

Hawaii (Day 1)

We told you guys that we would try and blog every day while we were out on vacation. Today was a pretty mild day, as we tried to adjust to the time change...5 hours...and take yet another flight to finally the Big Island, and manage to walk around, get settled in, and go out to eat. We can't wait to just relax and get some sun!
